I have tried different kinds of temp programs... Some report the same some are not comp. w/MOB. The only thing that has me worried is that my BIOS (System Health) is showing the same temp 63c/147f. so I don't think it's a program issue. Is it possible that the MOB is just giving off a false reading or could something actually be making it run that hot?

I have the same issues with my xp2600+. My system is rock steady, but MBM5 tells me that my cpu-socket is 56 degrees celsius, the cpu diode is 46 degrees and the case is 29 degrees........

If i compare these figures with the ones i get from Asus-Probe, the Probe displays between 5-8 degrees cooler......

But my system works well......any suggestions on how to obtain the correct temperature????

Thats normal. your bios temps are under slight load.
once in windows your temps should be lower than in bios.

Both are windows readings.....haven't checked my bios yet....

Asus-Probe is the software that comes with the mobo.....but does that peek into the bios to obtain the figures???

sorry,my bad. dont know why, but I was thinking asus prob was showing temps lower than bios.
best way to get temps is to check in the bios. then compare that with what you see in windows.
