Default CPU speed vs Mem speed

while i was able to oc my opteron x40 in a asus SK8N to 1976Mhz, once i decided to put it to use i ran into a problem... lol, let me try to explain. apparently on the nForce 150 pro while the agp bus can be locked the pci bus cannot. when i tried to set this rig up as my file server (holds all my media, music, etc for the house) my raid card had a fit when i tried to oc again (was running on ide before). i can bump the core speed up 25Mhz (woo hoo ) without spazing the raid card.
by dropping my mem from 400 to 333 i was able to push it beyond 400 with my former settings. as i am unable to do this now the question comes to which settings will i see the best performance for this machines intended use. higher cpu clock with memory running at 175Mhz (dual channel), or lower cpu clock with memory at 219Mhz?
sorry if this seems like a silly question but i wasn't sure what bench would offer which direction to go. perhaps the difference is too slim to matter either way but i appreciate any input.

I think if lower cpu and higher ram would be better

You will get the best over all performance at a 1:1 Ratio- Ram to CPU

Yes, I concur. Higher Ram for a server.

cool, that is what i was thinking but i am glad for the input. slightly off topic, but i have looked for a hacked bios that might solve the pci lock to no avail. any chance knows of one? i might bear your children if so. lol

I dunno... seeing as how the K8 core is anything but starved for memory bandwidth, and that you're already running dual channel memory, I'd wager you'd be better off with the higher clock speeds for a server. By the way Crash, 1:1 ratio doesn't exist in Athlon 64s, the memory bus is always running asynchronusly with the CPU because the memory bus is determined by a divder of the whole CPU clock speed
The problem is the board, or really, the chipset itself, so no BIOS fixes for you. If you're desperate, nVidia just released a new Opteron chipset called nForce 4 2200 I believe, and ASUS already has a dual socket board out. Not sure if it has overclocking though
