If I got my athlon xp 1800+ oced to a athlon xp 2600+ which is around 1.9 ghz, will that mean that it is around the same as a 2.6 ghz intel chip or will it be merely comparable to a 1.9 ghz intel chip?
the issue isn;t opewrating speed with those chips... the factor they use to determine is how many operations per second it can accomplish... this is independent of the actual frequency that the CPU communicates with the rest of the system. an AMD 3000+ (2.1ghz core) can complete the same amount of operations in most circumstances as a 3.0ghz 586... regardless of the fact that that would be an intel chip.

I see that thoroughbred 'B' can be 266 fsb, 333 fsb, and 400 fsb. I am currently overclocking my +1800xp 266 fsb thoroughbred 'B' to 333 fsb to match my pc 2700 ddr333 ram (11.5x166=1909mhz). Is it possible push it to 400 fsb and maybe get 2900+/3100+ speeds? If so I might get some pc 3200 ddr400 ram to try it .

thanks

Can someone please explain how the Athlon XP 1500+ has a FSB of 266 with a multi of 10 and frequency of 1.333GHz (according to chart)?

266mhz is the DDR front side bus. The actual FSB is 133.3mhz, but with DDR (double data rate) memory, it performs like a 266mhz FSB.

Read the ultimate guide to overclocking, found in the AMD General section. You can't have a name brand (dell, gateway, HP, etc) and overclock it. They don't allow you to. Overclocking involves going into your BIOS (by hitting the delete key upon starting your computer). They you change some options. But first you have to know what to change and what to change them to. Read the guide for details. Welcome to the forum.
