I'm assuming that it's a DTR chip and you probably need to flash the BIOS to one that supports them

i fixed it on my own if you have a k8v turn disable your amd quite and cool. it keeps your cpu cool by lowering the multiplier to reduce heat and speed.

The core CPU frequency is determined by multiplying the FSB by an internal multiplier in the CPU. On some chips you can change that multiplier higher or lower so you can increase the CPU frequency without effecting other componenets on the motherboard by overclocking the FSB.

Are all thoroughbreds B (ie 1600+,1700+,1800+,1900+, etc.) the exact same ship but have different "initial programming" which makes it run at the respective speed. Or is it that a +1900 would be built with extra "stuff" to make it run at higher speeds and be a better overclocker? So if I get a good 1600+ i would be able to push it as much as a good 1900+. Or if I get a good 2500+ moblie it will run as fast a good 2600+ moblie. Thanks |

They don't "make" rated chips. They test them and label them according to how high they can be set to at certain voltage and remain stable.
So when we overclock them we increase voltage so that they can go higher. Average means with adequate cooling and name brand power supply and most importantly lots of luck, you get a general idea of what you can expect. Some chips overclock great, some are duds... Other factors, not just CPUs influence overclocking so you need to list what heatsink you are using, what brand of power supply, what motherboard chipset, to get a relevant reply for your specific case. Also, is this a new multiplier locked 1800+? Which 1800+ is it, a Thoroughbred B? If you don't know how to tell, download this program to see: http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php#download Brand of RAM will help in answering how high your FSB can go, PC2700 generic RAM sticks usually go as high as maybe low 190s FSB but not higher. |
