I've got my 3000+ up to 2.33GHz. I've not been able to acheive stability at FSB 240. I can't get my MB to clock the memory faster than ~200MHz, I may need a bios update.

Just checking in, see you all later.

I'm in the process or rebuilding my Socket 754 rig. I've got a cheapy foxconn Nforce 4 board (Foxconn NF4K8AB-RS 754) and the Venice E3 3400 (2400mhz), some value ddr400 g.skill and a 2600xt. I'm hoping to pull 2.8ghz or so out of this rig. The Foxconn board has a bad history of basically being a piece of crap but I just feel the challenge calling me. It supposedly has decent OC options though.

WOW... a few hours digging around on this site and I'm halfway home. You guys are crazy.... and I mean that in a good way.

A little back ground first. I use the machine in my sig as a DAW(digital audio workstation) in a working recording studio. http://www.relayerstudios.com My system has been stable as the day is long for years now. The problem is I've upgraded my software suite and it looks as tho my machine now doesn't pack quite enough punch to keep the audio from "hiccupping"

I've never needed to overclock but now it seems like the time.

I read in this very thread NEVER overclock a clawhammer which is what i have. So it seems as tho I'm screwed right there.

Is this really the case?

Is there another 754 that I could buy that would pop right in maybe overclock and be faster and stable.

Is it time for a full rebuild with an up to date processor?

Is this guy gonna keep asking questions?

Thanks for your help....

Check out my sig!

Here's a Super Pi Run. Right now it's running 275HTT 1:1 with the Ballistix.

Hi 754 owners!

I am one of the few who are still using these lovely systems!

I have an asus K8N-E deluxe and an 2800+ with dual ddr400. I am thinking of getting a mobile 3.4+ which I can find really cheap but I am worried if it will work on my mobo.
I searched a bit around and it seems that it will work but I might have to play with voltage settings.

Can any one help me a bit?

Look right above you. I got one running in my desktop.

It has to have the right HSF ( because it is Lidless) and your Mobo has to support E stepping.

Pop one of these bad boys in Venice 3200+. It should do 2.6 - 2.7ghz depending upon how good your Overclocking options are in your bios.

I get 2.53 with a MSI K8N board. Could have more options but my Vcore only goes to 1.5 max. Better memory would also help.. btw specs pm'd
