Thanks ![]()

3.0 ghz without increase in voltage
3.1 ghz with small increase 3.2 or 3.3 with major increase in voltage this is in most cases, but every cpu is different, post your results ![]()

Hey guys, wrapped up my overclock over this holiday weekend, right now I'm sitting at 3.2 GHz, overclocked chipset and RAM as well. Really hoping I can push it another 100-150 MHz but I've had some instability issues running that high. I should also be able to get the RAM timings down some, but haven't really had the time to tinker once I got a stable overclock.

Hello everyone.
__________________I am happy to announce that I have just joined the club. I built my first system today, and everything seems to be fine, except for my 5000+ unfortunately. I tried a little overclock. I went into the bios and changed the multiplier to 14. My system was horribly unstable and unusable. It would crash within 5 minutes of boot up. I changed it back and it seems stable, though I haven't run prime. Using Asus Probe II, my temps are reading 47 C idle. This seems really high. I did use arctic silver 5, and I put on only a small dab the size of a BB, maybe less. However, when I was putting on the hsf, it required a lot of force. I tried to put it straight on, but it did slide a bit anyways during the struggle. Any suggestion? Defective card? Improper installation of hsf? By the way, the first letters on the chip were NAA. I've read through this entire thread, and that was brought up quite a bit. Thanks -Tim Edit: I forgot to mention, it is 87 F outside, and my windows were open. I just put the A/C on though, so we'll see. But that might explain the high temps.

If temps outside were 87F, for sure, could be even warmer in the room with the PC. Let us know how the temps look once you have cooled the room down some.
Also, can always try reseating the HSF. Doing that you can see how your thermal compound applied to the top of the CPU to see how much coverage you have. Also, from what I've read, AS5 does take some time to actually temper. I've read around 100 hours, before you see the optimal results. Please also provide us with your overclock settings, curious if you have changed anything besides just the multiplier. We can help you better with more details ![]()

I changed only the multiplier.
__________________After about five minutes, the computer would crash, and the screen would be filled with random colors. It was weird, and I thought it was the gpu at first, but I tried an old nvidia card I had lying around and that didn't fix anything, and once I put the multiplier back to stock, everything was fine. It is very hot in here. I'm sitting at my computer with sweat dripping down my forehead. Unfortunately, I'm upstairs and the A/C is downstairs, so it will take a while to for my room temp to change. When reseating the heatsink, I need to clean off all the ac5 first, right? Also, I just want to confirm with someone else who has a Zalman 9500: when putting the heatsink on, it takes a fair amount of force to hook the bracket onto the clip, right? Thanks -Tim
