Okay, Orthos has found a problem. When testing 1024K FFT, Core 1 has a
FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4 I should reduce my FSB until this error goes away correct?

Here is a nice bit of anticlimactisim. My motherboard has been on a slow downward slide for the past six months. First, the ethernet jack died. Then, half the USB ports died. I decided to flash the BIOS seeing if it was a software issue. The @BIOS software runs in windows, failed to write, and then restarted my computer.
It is now stone cold dead, no BIOS present. I wanted to contact Gigabyte by phone, but that isn't possible; they only have email tech support. I filed a ticket, and was told due to the Chinese New Year holiday from the 6th to the 11th, I will not receive a response until the 11th. Forget the fact that I filed the ticket on Monday the 4th... Oh well, I will need to put this topic on hold until I get the motherboard fixed, which knowing Gigabyte, will be about 6-8 weeks. I wish I could buy a new motherboard, but there are no 939/AGP boards available, and I cannot afford a new video card, so a new 939/PCI-E is out of the question.

This is really a pity. There are some good deals in the FS section if you look hard, a lot of members are selling off their 939 gear. Hope your RMA goes well.

Sorry to hear the bad news blitz, I always hate flashing my bios, and when I do I keep my fingers crossed and eyes closed.
Hope everything works out for you, I just sold both of my Skt939 mobo's but they were PCIe.

Being the realist I am, I have been scouring everywhere for a Skt939/AGP motherboard. I found a company that still has three in stock. Those are:
ABIT UL8 ATX $81.00 Gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939 ATX $88.00 Asus A8V ATX K8T800 $95.00 (None of those are for sale from Newegg anymore. I just went someplace with a common frame of reference. The vendor is Logical Plus Stores. It would be nice if someone else has bought from them.) The middle-price option is the board I presently have. Does anyone know anything about the Abit or the Asus? Which would give me a more stable clock? Which would give better ventilation? The ABIT looks nice in that it can support 8 GB of RAM. Not that I intend to try to find 4, 2 GB DIMMs of DDR400, but I could if I wanted to. The Asus I might be a bit leary about. I had the Asus A7V in the past and that was a nightmare. It was constantly being repaired by Asus, especially after it set a CPU on fire. Asus said it was nothing I did wrong, just a short in the board. Oh, side note. I just learned why my HT multiplier is only 4 by default. That motherboard can only do an 800 MHz HT rather than a 1000 MHz. Would have been nice if the manual mentioned that... If this board gets fixed, I have to try not overclocking the HT up to 1000 HMz (4x250) and see if that enables me to get a more agressive RAM clock.

Regards questions of stepping, since I have my processor out, it reads as follows:
ADV4400DAA6CD LCBIE 0638DPMW Z011937I60341 Is this good or bad?

PM'd. LCBIE's from what I could gather, should do 2.7GHz easily. The one thing I'm not sure about is whether the extra cache on the 4400+ will hinder that--2x1Mb vs. 2x512k--because that might be an issue as AMD X2's with more cache typically didn't OC as high. But I guess there's only one way to find out...

Well, until @BIOS erased my BIOS, I had it revved up to 2.75 GHz, and so, I should think there is not a problem. Now that I know my MoBo should not have more than 800 MHz HT, I should be able to get my stability issues worked out.
For the record, I received an RMA number, and have shipped my board about 20 minutes ago.

Ah, great! Hope the RMA process goes smooth--aka, hope you don't get a DOA board back... I think you should be able to squeeze 3GHz out of that CPU, but I'm not sure about the temps. What vcore were you using for 2.75GHz before your board crapped out?

Stock voltage. 1.35 V under load, 1.10 V (1.25 GHz) when Cool-n-Quiet kicked in. If I can find where I put my Zalman fan speed controller, I might hook that back up. At present, it was hooked directly into the motherboard which made it run at slower RPMs than when plugged into the controller at full-open.
