Default Phenom 9500 quad..

What do you guys think of the Phenom 9500 Quad @ 2.2Ghz... It's only around 90 GBP which surely makes it good value.. and 8.8ghz can't be bad.. Would it work with a 775-VSTA-Dual motherboard?

Thanks alot and interesting to find out

Did you just say 8.8 GhZ? FAILURE.

And no, Intel only is for 775 sockets my friend.

Pheonems dont overclock very well if you will be doing that too.

Other than that - they are alright

Isn't 2.2ghz x4 8.8?

I'm not into overclocking, just looking for a processor to replace my ol' 1.86

That is terribly mistaken my friend! Its just 2.2ghz

And you have to buy a 775LGA Socket processor to replace that one.

Can I Suggest the E8400 then You might need to check for compatibility first though, its a 45nm Wolfdale

Instead of a new processor, why not just run your current one at 3 Ghz? You're at overclock.net...

its not 8.8 its four cores that run 2.2 each.. you cant combine it to make it 8.8ghz lol.

The phenom is a AM2+ socket and unfortunately you are on a 775?

Unless you are planning to replace your motherboard too.

Meh I want a phenom, but I will wait till this summer.

You don't add them together. It's like putting four cars together than can go 100 MPH each. They can't go 400MPH just because they are all linked together, but they can carry 4x the cargo (data in this matter.) Even AMD fanboys like me will tell you, if you want to OC, go Intel. 775 is an Intel pin configuration, which won't work with AMD CPU's. If you want to run the Phenom you need AM2/AM2+.

P.S. Also, if you want to OC an AMD, look for the Black Edition CPU's.

Replacing processor probably would not do much for you in that case.

check your RAM with MemTest86
