nope the AC Freezer 64 Pro, which is actually getting worse temps than the stock cooler...
It has a 4 pin connector though, and my motherboard doesn't have PWM (I think thats what the 4th pin is?).
I don't think the fan speed is the problem, I still got to 60C doing ORTHOS with the fan plugged into the controller...

Nate, I forget: Did you change the fans on the AC Freezer 64 Pro? (I know you lapped it.)

Also, it's possible that by lapping just the HSF base you may have made contact between it and the IHS worse. If the IHS is either convex or concave, and the HSF base is flat, then you've effectively reduced the contact surface between the two. For best results, always lap both the IHS and the HSF base.

Another thought: When lapping, you almost always have to reduce the amount of TIM you apply. Try experimenting with the amount of TIM until you see better temps.

there is no way I'm going to lap Opty yet. Not sure what the warranty on him is like...
I would possibly remove the IHS, but I do not want to deface the IHS yet...
I have no more TIM, so all I could do is wipe some off and replace the HSF... not sure what else I could do.

small update: I now have 2 120mm fans (one of which is just the exhaust fan for my case) and the stock ~92mm fan on the HS. Going to test temps in the morning or tomorrow afternoon.

Temps are still too high for me
mid 40s on one core, low 50s on the other, folding on both (2 SMP clients)

Could the problem be that the freezer isn't being held close enough to the processor?

I hate this... I now have the 120mm on the back sucking air out, one 80mm and one 92mm strapped to the cooler itself, and a new 120mm fan blowing air from the 5.25 bays to the cooler.

I'm stumped, I don't know what else to do. Joe has been kind enough to offer me some free TIM because I ran out, and I'm going to test with that once it arrives, just to see if it's the cool silver I'm using.

If there's any pressure mods or whatever that I can do to the cooler in the meantime, please let me know

Nate, are those temps full load? Did you confirm after applying the cooler that the TIM was spread after pressure was applied?

yes the TIM is spread.
Which temps are you talking about? I used both folding and ORTHOS temps, and I said which next to most of the temps, but I guess not all of them.

Any more questions or suggestions? This thread is getting lonely again
