Hi all, New to this forum and to OCin. So i just needed to ask a few questions. Here's my setup:

Amd 64 3200+ Venice Core
Abit An8 Mobo
Abit X600XT PCI-E Card
1 GB(2x512) Patriot DDR

Nothing special. Only paid about $550 for it. The system runs fine. Will run HL2, Doom 3, Far Cry etc.. fine. I was just wondering about the OCin capabilities of the Amd 3200+ Venice and the Abit AN8. The Mobo came with uGuru, which has an Overclocking utility on it. So i'm guessing the Mobo will OC pretty nicely. but i'm just wondering about the rest. If it will OC good then i might look into it more but if it can't it's no biggie. Any opinions?

I'm having a problem. After installing a few windows updates and a bios update. For some reason it seems like my cpu's clock speed is fluctuating. When i look at the My Computer Properties, sometimes it says 2.01GHZ, sometimes it say 1.8 and sometimes like 1.08. And when i open my overlocking utility(OC Guru) it shows the CPu Freq., Ext. Clock, CPU Ratio etc....and it has three presets. Normal, Queit, and Turbo. On Turbo in normally shows a CPU Freq of 2160. Now is shows 1080. and Normal now shows 1050, and Quesit now shows 1020.

I see the problem. The problem is that it says the cpu ratio is only at 5.0X instead of 10.0X. But when i go to the setup screen after i reboot under uGuru Technology it shows the ratio at 10.0X.

Before i started typing under properties it show 1.8 GHZ now it is up to 2.01

Anyone know whats going on?

Quiet and Cool BIOS option!

It seems to be fluctuating a little bit but it probly just needs some time.

Never use CnQ when OCing.... bad very bad!

It's definitly cool and quiet! Disable that in BIOS. Oh and you can get 2.6 easy on stock cooling and stay below 50C load.

i disabled cool and queit, but it's still going up and down. I can actually see the CPU Ratio move from 10X to 9X to 5X. I rechecked and i do have Cool and Quiet disabled. but it's still doing it.
