Is there any chance you could use the BIOS settings instead of AMD Overdrive? I'm sure you will get a much more successful overclock as the end result.

I have noticed that with unstable overclocks sometimes the system does get sluggish. But you should certainly notice a difference once overclocked.

step 1: remove amd overdrive from ur computer. software OC'ing is just a plain bad idea.
step 2: if u have a black edition just increase ur cpu multiplier and ur good if u dont start increasing ur fsb by ten til it wont boot. then back it off by 20 boot in and run a stability test on it.

that should get u started and sorry 4 the lack of detail but i'm on my cell.

Here are DRAM pics straight from the Bios, I assumed AMD Overdrive would have the same settings. Sorry! I hope you can read it.

1. MCT MEM timing set to MANUAL
2.max lat - set it to 6.
3.2T mode - Enabled
apply the following options according from what u board reads on auto mode::

Cas lat time 5, tras 15, ras precharge 5, ras delay 5, trc set to 28. since i'm still in a DDR platform i'm not so familiar with the other options due to theyre ddr2 ram settings, so i'd recommend leavin those on auto. and also just which set of 2gb gskills are you using? the regular red/white one? if so you can tweak em a lil more with more voltages and get them to do tighter timings. but we'll work on that later on. and also aside from this screen wheres the system config screen? like to set the fsb, multies, voltages and such? postin that up would help you and me to adjust more settings when needed.

For TRC I could not ti higher than 26, so I left it on auto. This is my ram, im pretty sure these are the ones that can upped in the voltage.

Here is the Genie Bios area, which I believe the magic of overclocking happens on this board.

And PWM section which is voltage I believe.

i'd like to see whats availible under "HT LINK CONTROL" AND TIMING MODE(i'm guess its referrin to memory, anyway show me what it does and from the way it seems it should be set to enabled/manual) CPU CLOCK RATIO is that were the multiplier is? and yes you can up ur mem voltage to 2.0volts, on that ram, i've helped my friend with his exact kit like yours in doing 4-4-4-12's on his board and i believe this ram maxes our at around 225? or 227. and just a quick question, ur 5000+ is it black? or regular? but either way both cpu's has the base speed of 2.6 so acheiving a 400mhz OC isn't very hard, esp. with these am2's since they're under 65watts. glad i can help you this far..lol

ht link freq, should be manual..
timin mode should be manual/or auto try and see which one works better
cpu clock ratio, choose teh HIGHEST "WHOLE" multiplier.

2. i put timings on manual not sure what to look for if its good or not
3. cpu clock ratio is on 13x now.

What next! Thanks dude for helping me this far, I really do appreciate it.
