Anywhere i can find a place that takes paypal, and has cheap dual core 939 procs? i can take any 939 as long as it is an upgrade from my winchester 3000+
even a san diego 4000+ i hear is a huge upgrade. i still would like an opteron or X2 as long as it is under $35.

You will not get a dual core Opteron for under 35$ new. They are extremely hard to find since they are out of production and still very much in demand which raises the price. I am selling my Opty 175 on ebay now and I expect about 150.00 for it, if not more, since it is the only nib one on ebay that I can see.

Newegg's got cheaper ones. When i ordered my crap case from computer geeks, it came with broken plastic bezel snaps. still broken, despite my multiple temporary super glue fixes.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103037 Or if i find an X2 on ebay... I hear the san diego single core is almost as fast as the X2 3800

Actually stock they are faster. My buddy gets a 4.0 CPU scale on vista with his 4000+ and a 3.8 with his 3800+ X2 at stock speeds. Plus you can get that 4000+ to 2.8 easily and then its pretty darn good if you ask me.

But, overclock that X2 to 2.6GHz and you can run two threads at once while the 4000+ can only process one.

^^^^^Very true, but its not that easy to get that x2 to 2.6, lol the sandy is already running on a high voltage stock, so all it takes to get that thing to 2.8, 240 fsb, 4xHT, and some ddr500 ram.
a 2.2 X2 with a fully realized multi-threaded application will most likely run better than the single core even at 2.8, but 600 extra cycles of Athlon processing is decently significant.

Sadly my mobo doesn't support OC'ing, but my crappier asus did. that asus got fried and this MSI has been working for about a year.
I had no choice in selecting the mobo...i took what the warranty gave me........ ![]() The story: Yeah a storm 2 years ago fried my emachines T6003, then we had to take it to a place to fix it, because my parents don't and still don't like me workiing on my pc. They took the warranty service left over from the computer, so then i decided to get an upgrade. they gave me an asus a8v-vm and a new PSU, the crap 480 watt one. And i wanted more ram, so we got it, and i had 1.5 gb for a while. Now that asus and PSU broke, they gave me THE SAME psu, but a 1 fan model, and this current MSI mobo, crappier than the asus, but works better with linux. this mobo has 2 slots, so basically the store STOLE 768 MB of my ram, and we never went back to get it. oh well, all i need is $350 to make a whole new build...and i have $55 in paypal right now. So yeah my machine is basically an emachines that transformed into a smorgasbord of parts...pretty crappy, but it runs crysis somewhat decently.
