AMD Overclocker

Hey guys,
My only rig at the moment is my C2D laptop, which has a T7100 Core2Duo Mobile Processor, clocked at 1.8Ghz. I'm planning on building an AMD rig with a 5000+ X2, and was wondering, If I downclocked the X2 to 1.8Ghz, how would it perform compared to my T7100, which I find to be amazingly fast. Any help will be appreciated, and rep will be giving in certain cases, Regards, Chris

I always find it that desktop CPU have more strength on them but if they are clock the same T7100 would probably win.

I am currently fixing my friends laptop. And in comparison to fixing my older desktop, The desktop still seemed to be running faster. I agree with Zealotki11er in respect to desktops are made to run more efficient than laptops. Just the purposes they were built for.

clock for clock they would perform identical. however the intel has a shared cache, which can mean amazing differences in general tasks. my e6600 clocked to 3.15 is actually faster in some regards (same speed for most things) as my 5600+ clocked to 3.3
Not to mention overclockability... intels chips overclock wayyy better than amd chips, even the poor clocking intels do better than amd in most cases.

that laptop probably isn't cheap,
and 5000+s are cheap. enough said, plus if u grab a BE, it can put out some good performance for it's price, tho i dunno what u building the dekstop is for , cause thatwill be ur main reason for deciding what to get and such

yeah well he already has the laptop, so price is irrelevant
![]() Im assuming he is thinking of 'upgrading' to this cpu. My opinion is stick with intel unless on a very tight budget. NO im not an intel fanboy, my sig rig is my first intel and its not even here yet. Its just a statement of fact based on my recent observations with tinkering with an e6600
