Default HELP...CPU Troubles..is it failing?

I just installed a new motherboard a DFI Lan Party 790FX a few days ago and it came with AMD Overdrive. Since I had this new tool I decided to do a stability test and these are the results...

Stability test started at Sun Jul 6 16:57:12 2008
Calculation Test > FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.50, expected less than 0.4
Calculation Test > Hardware failure detected.
Stability test stopped at Sun Jul 6 16:57:29 2008

My computer has been crashing on me and not restarting, and I have to wait a few days and it will start again, and any attempts to restart right away ends in windows hanging at start up and a auto restart. This has happened on this new mobo and my old asus M2N-E SLI.. so I have ruled out the mobo's. I have also stability tested my ram and it passes.

CPU info: AMD Athlon FX-62 at 2.8 GHz
CPU Cooling: AC 64

if the ram and mobo are ok, then make sure your cpu is all at stock levels and try again. Also make sure the ram speed is fully supported by the motherboard as i had that problem once.

disable that overdrive stuff. if its stable, then its safe to assume that auto-overclockers just dont work, ESPECIALLY on DFI boards..

DFI boards are for serious overclockers because they have so many settings, and in most cases, DEMAND that you use them or its improper config. Its not like a forgiving asus that accepts half the settings on auto.

As far as a CPU dying, if its ever been overheated, or overclocked for extended periods of time, its possible that its pooching out, but most cases its the motherboard, memory, or psu that goes.

I dont think its the motherboard cause i just got it 3 days ago, and it was doing it on my asus. I have overclocked in the past just for benchmarking but never keep the settings for any extended amount of time. I was running some tests and found that I was having major ram errors while using memtest.

I started testing sticks seperatly and the both tested out ok and with one stick at a time i can start windows, no problem but with both sticks in i get errors.

Also for my ram the timings are supposed to be 4-4-4-12 but this board is auto setting it to 5-5-5-18, i dont know if that if part of the problem, and i dont know how to set it to 4-4-4-12 either maybe i can start a thread to help me with that later.

It sounds to me like you are trying to go into overclocking without informing yourself first.

I suggest you REALLy explore all the options of your bios and familiarize yourself with it, and read a few guides on here bfore you attempt overclocking and potentially damage your system...

If its truly a DFI board, it WILL have options for timings, and a whole lot more. I havent heard of a dfi board that is lacking in OC options yet. I havent owned one mind you, but if you just search for DFI on this forum you will see immense OCing potential from just about every one of their boards.
