It is a glitch. I am getting 12.10v when viewed with Asus probe.

This proc is driving me crazy. I have reached 3.1 with the same settings as 3.0. Nothing less than 1.4v is stable for 3.0 but going to 3.1 was pretty easy... I guess I will keep pushing it...
__________________edit: its not stable so forget about it. also BIOS and ASUS sensors reads 1.38v when I am pushing 1.4125v. Temps are still fine, low 30s on load if i crank all my fans wide open at 1.4125v. I don't feel comfortable going higher, need this chip to last. So i have cool n quiet enabled and it sits at 1.3GHz @ 1.03v idle.

You have to get a new MB... You're pretty lucky to have it running at 2.9Ghz at that voltage. I just managed to get it to run at stock speeds with 1.25v.

@ Renesis: what are your ambient temps? How did you apply your thermal paste?
__________________I am using the same CPU and heatsink/fan in a similar case ANTEC 900. But my temps are 20 degrees higher than yours @ 1.3V I'm idling at 36-38 and full load under prime95 @ 58-59° C and that's at 3.0GHZ. I don't know if I should reseat cause I lapped both the proc and heatsink. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can get the temps lower? Thinking about going to H20.

Hi nakoni47,
__________________Please ignore my idle temps, it is more like 22-23C as that is my room temperature, I think the software I use have a trouble reading low temperatures, even AOD, everest gives me idle temps like 14C sometimes, that is impossible and would freeze my butt off. Try clean up the cabling in your case maybe? Move the hardrives to the bottom also helps. I have a front 12mm fan for intake and all of the cold air would go over the motherboard. Also 2 12mm fans are used for exhaust. Also is ur Zalman 9700 running at full speeds? At full speeds it should read ~2700rpm. I have a fan controller for it, it is annoyingly loud at full speed. For the thermal paste I used the stuff that came with the cooler. Make sure the whole bottom of the contact area of the cooler is covered. Don't forget you also have the 4870 putting heat into the case. Right now I am rolling with onboard graphics, that makes a huge difference. Perhaps the first thing I would try is think of a way to vent the heat produced by the graphics card. As that is the only difference between our systems. Maybe using your side fan as an exhaust fan would yield better results. Or play with other fans and orientation of the Zalman cooler. Take advantage of ur top fan and use that as intake? and have your cooler pointing down so it gets only cold air, then have your side, back vent vent the heat out. I know hot air rises but all that heat from the 4870 will have to go through the CPU cooler before exiting the case.

I'm not looking at your idle temps but your load temps.
__________________Right now there are minimal cables in my system since I'm using a modular setup. The hard drives are in the middle but they have fans on them. My 9700 is running at full speed anywhere from 2650 to 2800 and yes it is annoyingly loud. For my video card I bought the Zalman 1000 which keeps the 4870 @ 38° C while at idle, haven't really checked load temps while gaming. For my Thermal Paste I used some AS-5, but I just reapplied it last night so it has to go through it's setup phase of 200 or so hours. Even with the max drop of 5° C my max load temps with OCCT stressing 100% of all 4 cores would be around 56° C. With a lapped CPU and heatsink do you think I should spread the Thermal paste all the way across? I don't think the lap was completely even since temps rose steadily without any sort of thermal as a test phase. Right now I'm using the small bb size in the middle but my temps seem to be higher than when I had it spread all the way across the heatsink. Today I also reoriented my 9700 to blow out the top. How would you convert the fan from exhaust to intake or vise versa? I'll probably check some different setups, but any advice would help. Thanks in advance for all the info, Anthony
