Dont know how long, but I do agree and wait... 3.0 is fine for now and until nextgen tech comes out (I dont consider phenom/am2+ nextgen) I wouldnt bother nor consider it worth an upgrade..

Deneb is supposed to hit the shelves somewhere between Q4 of this year and Q1 of next year (so, Oct 08 - Mar 09), but I'm not sure when in that time period.
I would also wait and save your money for AM3... unless you just CANT wait, then I would get a good AM2+ board with the SB750 (OC's 100-400MHz better than the other boards for phenoms) and either a cheap tricore (you can get one of them for $104, and it would hold you over until the denebs come out) or go with a 9850 BE, which would cost another $90... (on the SB750, they've been hitting the 3.2-3.4GHz range pretty consistently), and I'm pretty sure that you would notice the additional speed there. Good luck

forget tricore, its a complete waste of time/money. Get a quad for very little more.

The only reason I mentioned the Tricore, is that there is a sweet combo deal for one with the Biostar 790GX (SB750) board... the Tricore and the board are only $179 right now, so basically he's getting a board that will work with deneb, and a cheap $79 phenom for right now to play with. then with the money he saves he can buy a better deneb when they come out.
Although, I just looked, and as it turns out, the 9850 has the same deal, but its $80 more($259). I guess getting a phenom depends on his budget, and how hard the upgrade bug has bitten him... I'm hoping to see some deneb desktops by the end of the year (christmas time would be great), but thats about all it is... hope. Good luck

Count me in the group that couldn't wait. I splurged on a 9950 with all the trimmings. Four gigs of 1066 memory, 1000W PSU, 4870, Blu-ray/HDDVD optical, etc. I made the decision to do the upgrade back when Asus said they were releasing their 790fx/sb750 M3A79-T board. Still waiting on on that front.... Probably should have waited for the Deneb at this rate.
