Well, i decided that it's time for a new Cpu.
I was thinking of trying to get $60 and buy a g31m-S2l and Oc my way on the e2160.. But the good ol' pentium is going slow.. I think you guys could help me pick a AM2 board + CPU for about 150-160 dollars.. If less the better.. -Has to Overclock, Not records but It has to. -Need a IDE port -Two Ram Slots are enough I wanted to go Phenom X4 because.. "Why go Dual core again?" i know i have one of the slowest Core 2 cpus but if i were to go dual core again.. i rather buy the motherboard. I Want to go amd because they are cheap and i think they give good Performance, but i don't know any cheap boards with decent Ocing capabilities being AM2+. I like the X3's too, Phenom 8450 looks very good too.. i just don't know if they are worth it. Only X2 i like is 5400+ Be, But i don't know if X3 outperforms them. ty.. j0z3

The only one that I could come up with was this combo deal. The Biostar 790GX mobo (with the new SB750, it allows any phenom a 100-400MHz faster OC than any other SB) and the 8450 X3 for $164.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Size=10&page=1 If you dont want a SB 750 board, then you could do it cheaper no doubt, but those boards will OC better, and they should also OC the next gen denebs better as well, which is why I recommend it. Good luck

dude, just stick with what you have. what applications do you run that you need quad core? if you really want a quad core why dont you just buy an intel cpu instead of building a whole new computer.

There's nothing wrong with your CPU. Just get a motherboard that can OC, like the Asus P5Q Pro. I have two E2000 series CPUs. My E2140 in my sig is running at 3.2GHz 1.3v and I have a E2180 in another rig running at 3GHz 1.4v.
