Interesting idea. Unfortunately, the 9600 is effected by the TLB errata. If you are not intending to do multi-platform simultaneous virtualization and your motherboard supports disabling the patch, you should be fine.

(If you intend to virtualize several systems at once, you cannot disable the patch or you will crash. If your motherboard does not give you the option, you will not be able to disable the patch.)

hey blitz, would you say my 3Dmark score is normal for my hardware? i clocked it back down to 3.2 GHz, turned the HT link down to 800 mhz (it was on auto before, so nothing may have changed), ram running at 533 mhz 5-5-5-15-25. my 3Dmark score went up a little which surprised me, but it froze during orthos at 3.25 anyway. right now my scores are 10570 3dmarks, 4558 SM2, 5418 SM3, 2269 cpu. should i be getting more for my hardware, or am i being paranoid? also, for some reason i couldn't lower my timings. every time i tried to lower my timings to something like 4-4-4-12 or 4-4-4-15, my bios reverts back to default settings. it successfully accepts the change to 800 MHz, but why not the timings? i'm guessing some sort of overclocking safety feature is kicking in, but why? lol. would you happen to have an idea? also, where was your CR option found in your bios? i can't find it anywhere

At 3198 MHz my CPU score was 2262. You are spot-on for your processor at least.

I still say that there is likely a driver issue going on with the 4850. 8.10 will likely fix it.

Regards 3.25 GHz, how much VCore were you running? What was the RAM set at during the same?

hopefully it is just a driver issue.. thats what i'm crossing my fingers for. as for my vcore, the default value should be 1.35, but asus pc probe reports my cpu vcore's reported default at 1.5v for some reason, so my motherboard overvolts to 1.4 accordingly. as for my memory it was at 533 MHz 5-5-5-15-25 2T.

How much memory voltage? Also, when you say "3.25," you do mean 13x250 or 14x232? This makes an important difference.

2.15v for memory and 14x230. i can't underclock, or it's just very well hidden (i doubt it).

The M3N78-PRO has the CPU Multiplier directly below CPU Voltage in Jumper-free Config. If you have access to it, it would be in the same place.

For a 3.25 or more run, try dropping the RAM to 400 instead of 533. Alternatively, loosen it from 5-5-5-15 to 5-6-6-18.

By the way, recall how I said the HTx5 going down was because of instability? I just proved it. Upping my NB HT voltage, I get the following:

hey blitz.. would you happen to know why my bios settings always go back to default whenever i lower the timings? if i lowered my clock speed to 800 MHz and tightened my timings down to 4-4-4-12-25-2T would i still have to overvolt the memory? thanks

I would guess that the RAM won't run them and it's the asus BIOS rollback ticking in. But that's just a thought

I concur with Dobbie. If the BIOS resets it, it is likely CPR taking over.
