Q6600 is just so much better......No real reason to go AMD until the New Phenoms come out. And besides, The X3 costs about the same as Q6600. But if it was free, I guess its fine

info:FSB is an Intel PC term. It can be compared to the HT link of AMD PCs. What Mr. biggums was referring to is the bus speed or CPU clock (in your case 200MHz).
on topic:from what i know you can go as high as 220 on the bus speed stable with a Phenom x3. For higher clocks i suggest raising the core voltage getting a good heatsink.

Costs about the same? On newegg the Q6600 go for almost 190 the 8650 goes for 101 no about the same here. The 8650 is a good little chip nothing is wrong with it and all he needs is some better cooling.

Maybe you forgot that you have to save the changes you made to the BIOS before exiting. Also i suggest you switch off cool'n'quiet in the bios(under the cpu configurations i think), that way your CPU will stay at full speed all the time(it will take a bit more power, but you'll know your cpu's true speed). Have you read any overclocking guides? Here's a good one.

your 8650 defaults the the HT link speed and NB speed at 1800MHZ or a 9X multiplier. so as you increase your ref clock it also increases the core clock of your CPU, the HT link speed and NB speed. you will want to keep your HT and NB speeds close to 1800MHZ.
make sure you disable cool&quiet and virtualization from bios. it also wouldnt hurt to set you CPU voltage to 1.3 to give you headroom. your mobo will display the multipliers in either of the ways shown. multiplier/multiplier shown in MHZ 1x /200 2x /400 3x /600 4x /800 5x /1000 6x /1200 7x /1400 8x /1600 9x /1800 so as the ref clock increases you will need to drop the multiplier of both you HTlink and NB. it also wouldnt hurt to bump the voltage on each up one or two notches. i believe the core multiplier on the 9550 is 11. so at stock speeds 11.5x200=2300mhz .your HT and NB will be 200x9=1800MHZ. so lets say you increased the ref clock to 230. your core clock/ HT speed and NB speed will be as shown. core=11.5x230=2645MHZ or 2.64GHZ. HT speed will be 9x230=2070MHZ. and NB speed will be 9x230=2070MHZ. the HT and NB speeds may be too high so you will need to drop the HT and NB multipliers to 8x or 1600MHZ to compensate for the OC. 8x230=1840 which is closer to the original 9X200=1800. you want to keep you HT and NB speeds as close to 1800MHZ as possible. hope this helps you understand how phenoms overclock. Good Luck ~HxCnero

I've been on the foxconn website in regards to your motherboard but haven't found the CPU wattage info I was looking for. I am worried that you might be stressing your motherboard's VRM mosfets if you take it too far.
__________________Secondly, there are better chipsets out there that allow for Phenom overclocking. Namely the SB750 and the 780a (both with ACC). Third, do not listen to the Q6600 suggestion. Almost all the ones you can buy today are poor overclockers. I was about to buy one when I realized this and the prices are WAY different. Good in trying to overclock your processor. I am getting a similar one soon. Oh and save some money for a Phenom II when they come out/ with good mobo to boot.

just give it time. and keep playing with it. youll soon know your setup and what everything does like the back of your hand. just be patient. take it slow. its not as complicated as it seems.
