i have also Phenom X3 8650 processor. I also begin to try overclock my CPU. i tested with orthos in 1hour (stress CPU), coretemp show temp around 39 degree (C). However, Phenom have triple core, while orthos only test with 2 cores. Is it correctly ? (i know must test with 8-->12 hours but i still don't have time
hope soon...)and i think many applications can't use maximum power of triple cores, so overclock processor maybe is not neccesary... what i thought wrong or right ? (if you OC it to 3GHz - for example, are u sure speed of system will increase ? ) I've read posts at here. Thanks for support and advice

i suggest you lower your HTT down to 1000 and raise your FSB as high as it goes.

I try to edit something in BIOS:
CPU FSB Fre : 200 (as default) HT Ratio : x9 CPU Ratio: x9 (Note: I tried modify CPU FSB to 220Hz - so DDR Memory Fre: 880Hz. But then save and exit BIOS, 1 new message show my OC is not valid, i don't miss correctly about message but maybe it has info about CPU north bridge, DDR MEmory Fre 800... And finally, BIOS set default - CPU FSB is 200) My CoreTemp now is 19 (or 20) degree C, and follow is info from CPU-Z (I think CPU is too cool )Anybody let me advice .... (I don't have any air fan or water cooling for CPU, and i want to know i can use processor with max speed is how much? - without have any hurt for it, and for me ). p/s: MSI mobo has D.O.T feature (this can increase system to 5,10,15%). But i don't know effective and stability of this function... What's right?) THanks for support... |

The problem with the Intelligent overclocks are that they are designed to take in a bunch of CPUs and overclock them all to a stable point. BUt from what I've encountered, they never overclock the computer to a stable level. They hardly work and in most cases, you can be stable, same speed, have more customization with a manual overclock.
__________________I think you need to disable Cool and Quiet. Do not overclock the PCI-Ex lane, you will fry your graphics card. Moreover, what do you current;y have your memory to? And what are your voltages in bios? The shot I am looking at doesn't count because cool and quiet lowers the cpu's voltage by quite a margin. How far can you go with increasing the reference clock? Conversely, have you looked at the overclock phenom guides? gah! I can't find them.

But your reference clock is still @ 200 mhz. Change this value to attain a higher speed. Easiest thing you can do. Then we can head over to more detailed stuff. Your cpu voltage will need to be increased soon as well. Don't over do it.
