dont expect to get far with stock cooling my friend, the heat will be too much for the cpu. i suggest picking up a new cooler.
overclocking in itself is pretty simple. in your bios find the fsb and increase it by 5-10 increments ( so increase boot into windows see if its stable using orthos or throwing up a game or what not, once you push the cpu as far as you see safe run orthos blend test to check stability), your multiplier should already be maxed. when increasing the fsb farther increasing the voltage will be neccasary, but like i said DO NOT TRY TO GO FAR ON STOCK COOLING. also for your memory when pushing the fsb higher your memory will be clocked higher aswell not all memory can take a whole lot so it can cause some instability, so it might be neccasary to downclock it. your HT link your going to want to keep around 1000 so your most likely going to have to drop it aswell. like i said and i cant make this any clearer dont push to far on stock cooling, i suggest picking up a new cpu cooler. alot of people will suggest the true, xigmatel 1283 and theres a couple other good ones out there that are cheap aka. mine i sir say good luck to you ![]() also i saw your other thread about crysis, depending on your memory with the cpu overclock as i mentioned earlier in the post your memory will OC a bit aswell so you will see some improvements from it aswell. less memory usage that kind of stuff, atleast i did lol

we will just put it this way you really dont want to pass 60C on full load. so download coretemp to monitor your cpu's temperature like i said try to make sure it does not go past 60C i would say try to keep it under 55C at full load orthos is a stress test program, it puts your cpu at max usuage and puts it threw a series of tests it has no time limit you just keep going with it, alot of people usually run it for 8 hours plus when they think they have reached there max OC to make sure its stable. like i said when you get a new cpu cooler i would run it then for 8 hours plus to make sure your system is stable but you need the new cooler first. when you do this first little bit of oc on your stock cooler i suggest running core temp and throwing orthos up for 1 hour to see your temps just to give you a general idea of where it sits at i wish i could help you more but its 5:40am so i'm off to bed

i believe the max safe operating temps are 63C. i think he's look at 2.5 with stock. 2.6 if he's got a champ.

People will eventually answer your questions, but I'd advice you get used to using the Search field on the top right, combined with Google, for information.
__________________Not only will you get your answers faster (usually) but you'll retain the information for longer (most likely) because you found out on your own. Orthos is a stressing tool for your CPU to test stability on OCs.
