Btw if you are considering the Xiggy remember it can only be configured to face up or down. So if you dont have a top exhaust fan, heat can factor in again. Or block your dimms. On AMD though, Intel it doesnt matter which way it faces. I was going to buy one till I found that out.

The stock HSF that came with mine kept a 40-50 range on the stock clocks.

Well I have mine OC'd too 3.2 24/7 and I idle around 40 or so and about 55 load, but my office get quite hot without a window open or AC on, with AC on or a window open I get around 34 idle and around 50 load, and I have to say I have a very good cooler for my CPU I was thinking of reseating everything, but with the V8 I have to take out the whole MB and there for have to take apart my whole computer but if your looking for a good cooler, that pushes air out the back of your case then I'd suggest the V8.

I have an Antec 900 - With a 200mm top exaust fan .

Ive decided to get a new heat sink, if that has a good effect and allows me a half decent over clock im going to go water cooling.

Will have to wait a few weeks though as im outa cash atm .

One.. you can under volt your 9950+Phenom. I did mine even at over clock for the same problem.

After I got tired of that I Lapped it and then i put the Arctic Cooler 64 on it and It dropped my temps enough where I could overvolt it..

My 9950 has a hump in the very middle of it and was only contacting about 4 mm of the top of the Cpu.
I lapped that thing till it turned gold or copper. Then my Son got a Xigmatek 1283 and that thing is great. Runs cooler than ever but he has it in an Antec 900 case.
The Rosewill Z-5 is my new cooler and I love it. It keeps my new 940 overclocked and frosty at 36 idle and 49 stressed.

What's your ambient temperature?
How's your case's airflow?

58-60C full load sounds normal to me. 9950's run hot.

ok kool, well since you have such a large exhaust fan, make sure you get a cooler that can mount to blow the hot air towards the fan, like the Zalman 9700Nt or one of the others the guys suggested,

NO dude your crazy man. 60-61C is the max temp for the 9950!!!!!!!!!!! yea it runs hot but that's only if you have a crappy cooler or haven't mounted your cooler properly. my cpu under full load at 3.3ghz maxes out at 48C and idles as low as 25C depending on ambient temps.

the lower the better. what are your load temps?

I'm using the stock cooler with my 9950 too, and I'm getting about the same temps. I just started messing with overclocking the other day, and when I first started monitoring my CPU temps to see where I was (before overclocking), it was 65C at full load! Turns out there was dust in the heat sink, and after I cleaned that out, my load temps went down to about 56-58, which isn't far from what you're getting. I think the stock cooler just isn't that good, but you might want to check if theres any dust building up in yours.

A few days after I started watching my temps, I installed a ram cooler, which must be blowing extra air through the heat sink, because my load temps dropped to around 54C. You could try adding something like that, or replacing the fan on the heat sink with a more powerful fan, but it'd probably be easier and more productive to just get an after-market cooler. I'm looking at the Zalman CNPS9700 right now...
