Default Phenom 9950 BE temp problems!

Hi, I could use some help.

I recently decided to stress test my Sig rig, so I ran 3dMark06, and got a crap score. Then I decided to run Prime 95, I got the newest version from the website, ran it with all 4 cores...

After just 7 minutes I was up to 58 - 60 degrees, this is a problem, as I had decided to OC my processor. According to http://products.amd.com/en-us/Deskto...l.aspx?id=447# the max temp for my Phenom is 61 degrees.

I have an A900, and the default Phenom heat sink, but as I haven't even OC’ed yet should it be this hot so soon..? It is definitely seated correctly, with good paste, I re-seated it about a week ago... and i know it was in right, I cannot re-seat atm as I have no paste with me.

Any ideas, I was going to get a better heat sink / WC the CPU, but if I can't even get an over clock with the stock cooler I might not bother.

Sorry it was so long I like to babble.

I didn't think those temps would be bad, try reseating your HSF on your CPU. If that doesn't work your going to have back off the OC a little bit and lower the voltages.

Those temps are pretty high but I got a new stock heatsink for my processor when I RMA'd it and their new ones are alot crappier then the old ones. Way less copper. You'll get huge drops in temps with better cooling

SO you think that the heat sink is the problem?

ok, try re-seating it when you can and try nt to use too much thermal paste. if u are still having temp probs get a better cooler. i have a Zalman 9700NT and it works excellent for me along with my extremely well ventilated Antec 300 case

So you think that a good cooler will give me stable temps?

What temps does your 3.324 get idle and load? And also how easy is it to clock that Far?

Yea a good cooler will really get your temps down allowing you to overclock a lot higher.

As for my idle and load temps, they are great for idle i get as low as 25C and for100% load i get 47C, it just depends on the temperature around, plus my case is well ventilated. i have an antec 300 case with 5 fans a 140mmand a 80mm acting as exhaust fans and 3 120mm fans pulling air into the case, my hd4870 spit the hot air out of my case.

my 3 120mm fans pull a total of 330CFM of air into my case so no lack of fresh cool air in the case. which helps with dropping your temps, plus my CPU cooler pushes the hot air directly into the 140mm exhaust fan so the hot air doesn't circulate in my case.

right now i am idling at roughly 32C due to a very hot day with lil breeze, so the air in my room is a bit stagnant. i always have my windows open, literally 24/7. i live in Jamaica if you are wondering, so a well ventilated room and case helps to kp my temps low.

so get a good cooler and i'll help you overclock it further,

regarding to the overclock to 3.324ghz. it was a bit of a hassle but i got it done, plus i have a motherboard with ACC that helps phenoms overclock higher than without using ACC so it wasn't as hard for me..

here are some guides that should help you overclock your CPU a bit more
