2 things. You will not go any further with stock heatsync. You can get descent aftermarket cooling for around $50. A lot of guys use Zalman 9700 around $45 but I am sure you will get more recommendations . You can check your PSU with OCCT. There is a PSU stress test in OCCT but your PSU is small. Tiger Direct has good corsair 650W PSU's for $85.

Isn't 3.4 with 4 cores pretty decent? I mean, if three of the cores can be stable at 3.8 and the fourth maxes out at 3.4, then the max you'll get is 3.4. Am I missing something?

3.4GHz is Ok but some guys I saw were getting high 3.6GHz. They had better PSU and cooling.

It maybe the fact that I am using cheap-o $5dollar Cooler Master Thermal Compound, that my temps are so high, I know I seated the heatsink correctly, and I think I am getting the right temps.

I was playing Wanted, and it crashed out on me when I was running it @3.4 on 3 cores, so even though I did and 8hour prime on @3.4 with no problems.

I am down to 3.2 right now, just did a 3hour prime pass, gonna play wanted to see if it the game thats crashing.

Ok, here is an update.

- I have concluded that my "somehow' Version of Wanted is crashing indapendantly from the OC.

- I tested my PSU (which is about 4 years old now), using the OCCT PSU test for 30min, and apparently it passed. Go Antec for making quality products.

- OCCT is giving me very very accurate temp readings, I am idleing at 39-41* C, though load gets to a max of 63*C according to OCCT charts, after 1 hour of OCCT CPU stress Tests. Also this is at a voltage spectrum of about 1.38-1.45vcore.

- It seems that I can get all 4 cores stable at 3.2ghz, (as determined by a 30min PrimeStress) but I cant get any further than 3.4ghz on 3 cores.

I am going to mess around with this some more, and I am going to try using Vista instead of Win 7, to see how this turns out. I am not really liking the 7068 x64 build too much anyway, it seems laggy and unreponsive, compared to the 7000 build I was using with my 6400+ which felt very very quick.

I have a similar problem except it's that I can't stable at 3.7 GHz no matter how much voltage I put in. If I stress test it it passes but if I stress test it and do some regular tasks then I BSOD.

Your temps get too high when stress testing. Get a better cooler for starters. Also, how hot is your video card getting and does it exhaust into the case or out the back of it? Along with that is the flow in your case good?

Ok hey guys help me out, all my games are crashing after about 10min of play.

At first I thought this was an isolated thing with Wanted, cause i did download the game.

but all my Steam games crash as well, I was just beginning to enjoy the hell out of Zeno Clash (great freaking game BTW) and it crashes on me as well, that and Dark Sector as well.

I am not going to blame this on the OC, because this happens on stock settings too.
I get normal good play for about maybe 10min, and then boom crash. This isnt a CTD either, its a crash to black screen, complete system hang.

Could this be

- A windows 7 issue? Specifically with build 7068, x64?
- A hardware issue? I doubt this though, I get rock sold 8hours stability with Prime95, and all OCCT 1 hour tests pass with out failing.
- Also going to rule out the OC, cause like I said this happens on stock settings as well.

Most important thing to consider is that when they crash, it hangs and goes to black screen (a state where it stops sending a signal to the monitor and the monitor shuts off)

please help.
I am going to test out my ram, but I doubt its bad, otherwise my stress tests would of failed, I believe.

any advice please,

oh and no more 4th core for me, even with ACC on, post screen shows a CPU count of 4, though inwindows, I only get 3. Eh oh well, I wasnt even banking on this anyway.

All ACC does, is cause my temp readings to do the following.

At boot, temp readings start out around 35*C and slowly clock down and down and down till they are at 0*C, that makes no sense to me
