You know I have had two 150 raptors with the window and one of the velociraptor drives and found them all the be pretty much the same.
When testing a crysis load I found the raptor would load the level between 1 and 3 seconds faster than a 7500 seagate.
Not to mention both of the 150 ones died after a few months.
They are also very loud.
All in all I don't think they are very good at all and would say go with the CPU.

The next step for you though is a CPU if you want faster computing overall. The raptor is a great compliment to a fast platform. I dont think you will see the results you want by just upgrading the HDD's.

Unless you go with a RAID config with another Caviar. Still overall computing with benefit from a CPU upgrade.
Haha, I just bought this motherboard though. Would a board with a better north bridge really be that much better? I don't know much about it.

I am probably leaning toward the CPU now. Also I'm not interested in setting up a RAID 0.

Oh my goodness, no I thought you were on something different.I looked up your board and youll be fine. the FX/GX NB are great overclockers, but your board seems to be ok and handles eveything you will need.
