What would probably increase my computers general speed? I am running my OS on a WD 7200rpm right now.

BOTH
![]() Dunno, I have a raptor, though I don't really see the difference. Maybe because I'm used to it. It's nice to know that it cuts away a couple of seconds on opening windows and programs. But the CPU is more dedicated to the speed at which those programs perform I think...

Once you got your system booted up and everything loaded the phenom II for sure.
Just depends how many times a day you intend to restart your computer.

How about a Tricore and another one of your drives for RAID 0?
That would be the most beneficial.

I vote for a Raptor, 2ms seek times and write speeds are what help an OS the most.

Well If you want to upgrade your CPU, consider you will more than likely want to upgrade your motherboard as well. the 790X could use an update. Since you already have a 4830 might consider going to a 790FX and a SB750, instead of GX with onboard graphics. The prices on solid AM2+ 790/750 boards have come down dramatically.
The next step for you though is a CPU if you want faster computing overall. The raptor is a great compliment to a fast platform. I dont think you will see the results you want by just upgrading the HDD's. Unless you go with a RAID config with another Caviar. Still overall computing with benefit from a CPU upgrade.
