Default AMD 3200+ OC probs on linux

Ok so im confused, im in linux and my CPU keeps getting underclocked. In my bios its set to 2.8ghz then when I boot into linux it seems to go from 2.2 eventually down to 1ghz...? What is underclocking my cpu im using ubuntu 9.04 and I cant find any option to disable or enable the coolnquiet thing in the bios?

Help! :x

edit: So I got it to go to 2.2 but it wont go higher...

specs are k8 triton mobo
amd 3200+

Edit: Hm weird it keeps resetting my bios settings on reboot back to 2.2ghz which is stock... I got it to 2.4 then I restarted to go and get it higher but when I went to change my settings to get them higher I noticed it had reset my bios settings back to stock... Whats resetting my settings lol?

I remember somewhere saying 9.04 doesn't like CPU scaling, and overclocking throws off what it reads and such and such. Just plain doesn't work. Since 9.04 doesn't support an older kernel, I'd try 8.10 and see if it fixes. You wont miss much.

I get the message saying it doesnt support scaling, but my OC doesnt change. Mad J does this happen in windows? If so, then it sounds like a low CMOS battery if not, then i dunno.
