Yes i am using a combination of those ramsinks, some are longer in length as they are for system ram. I get to saw them off to fit what i need, they are easy to saw. The smaller vga ramsinks go on my caps near the vrms/mosfets, they are hot too! Biostar TA790GX boards are bare essentials!
__________________Nenkitsune you definitely should get a few packs of them. Do a run of OCCT or LinX for 20 minutes and feel the heat! Other boards do come with heatpipes cooling but i heard the heatpipes get confused because of differential heat output between vrm/mosfet and northbridge chipset. I can say im pleased with what i did in 3 hours. Do stack 'em up to give more area for the heat to dissipate by your fans. A single ramsink is too small to be effective, you need at least a 2nd layer. I did 3 where i can. Gave me 100mhz.

Better cooling of anything possible when OCing is a +
 I like to cut up old HS for that type of situation so they can be a large as possible

That's actually quite worrying that the heat was literally limiting your overclock - like your CPU overheating and throttling itself...
@OP: which ramsinks in particular did you buy? I saw a thread once where a guy attached those copper ramsinks to his TRUE and couldn't cut them - they were that hard...

I did this with my old 780G Biostar board and left-over RAMsinks... I didnt try for any better OCs though. I was already happy with 2.9Ghz on my 9550.
