New to Overclock.net

now im happy with my overclock can i re-enable cool&quite like you can with intel chips just so when im surfing its not running as warm

No, I don't think you can, as it will cause instability. I'm not 100% sure though so someone correct me if I'm wrong.

i will be gutted if i cant that was a good thing about intel chips once you got your overclock stable you could put on speedstep

I have heard of people doing it and worked for them although i have never done it, It wouldn't really hurt to try in fact i may try my self..

You may be able but more than likely it will cause instability, because the bios knows how to scale down a 940 @ stock speeds but it may cause trouble in an overclocked state depending if your OC works out to be equatable with its formula. Worse case it BSOD's and you cant use it.

i think results will various. some will mobos will allow you, some will not.
but you can always do that with an acc oc, you can do that using aod to tune the frequencies down (don't include the voltage) when not gaming. goodluck

I never used CnQ. I used a program called RMclock, and had it set so I could step the voltages by whatever i wanted to choose and all that fun stuff. it worked GREAT actually

i never switched cool and quiet off on this processor or my 4200+ @ 2.67ghz and didnt have any stability problems bsod aint a problem just turn it back off if it happens lol

It works fine, I have it running on my 9950 overclocked to 3.3 and it neva gave me any problems.
