My 940 runs at the same temps as yours at 3.6. often a lot higher. I just changed over to a 955 and a different Mobo and the temps are a good 10c cooler at 3.8. Also this is with the same cooler.
I would just say that the 940 is a hot chip.

CACVC AC 0852GPDW errrr, i wonder if i have to go to the 955be route as well. 4ghz looks very tempting. but i just hope something happens when i reseat.

I can't hit 4 with my 955. I just get blue screens. Running at 3.7 stable though. (yes prime stable christ!)
My 940be is AACSC AC0839GPMW Not seen anyone else with this one?

also, since you can hit that easily with your 955be at a lower voltage, have your tried hitting 4ghz with 1.55v?

I was playing some more yesterday and can hit 4 with 20x or by upping the FSB. My ram is fine up to 1700. This was done with the Volts at 1.5 as you suggested. However I worry a little as some programs are reading the 1.5 as 1.56. CPUz, Overdrive etc all read it at what I have set it to but Everest reads it high. Is there a way to know for sure which is right?
I can run 3d mark at 3.9 but have not been able to run prime or even pi with it yet. Still I have some playing to do I will be back with more results for your baby tiger there.

right. so i was able to reseat now. i tired it with thick, thin and all even out tim. i'm sure i already seated probably. but i only get about 3c of load difference.
the thing that really bothers me are my idles. at bios, it rarely goes above 40c. but with windows any windows measuring temps, i idle at 40-45c. then i decided to go 1.5v and stressed it. temps were as high as 64c but the weird thing is, the hsf is not that hot at all. when i touch the the backplate, it felt warmer than the heatsink. i say is about 45c while the hsf is just about 35c. besides, isn't the 940be programmed automatically to shut off when reaching 62c? it's really strange. i really need some help here ![]() also, i'm considering this backside cooler: http://www.thermalright.com/new_a_pa...er_ifx-10.html
