For the point though, he wants to go OC it a bit later too. That's why I think its best to wait a little.

True. I think the 720 would be fine but he needs a motherboard and cooler too.

Alright, so I'm guessing I should probably buy a new motherboard. Suggestions would be much appreciated. By the way, if I'm going to overclock a cpu i would prefer it to be able to be pretty highly OCed, while still being in a reasonable price range.

If you're patient enough, it'll be worth saving up a bit more. You don't really wanna skimp out on too much. If you do that, you'll be limited as far as overclocking and performance. Unless you want a dual core or something, but you said you wanted a quad, so you're budget should be a little higher. Just my 2¢.

It'll be worth the wait I'm sure. Just check into everything you can and look for deals too. Hell, even OCN's for sale section rocks for deals, sometimes ya get lucky.

Wat? the 9950 hits 3.0 so easily my grandmother can do it. At 3.0 it will handle pretty much anything you throw at it. They also have the potential to go even higher.
