run a cinebench or a blender test render which will be mostly about cpu speed. superpi really profits from fast ram.... so its a bad programm to compare proccessing power.

i think the better time on the 550 is down to the ddr3's bandwidth, very inpressive tho. looks like you got a bargain 955 )
