so currently I have a 64 X2 5000 +, and have got a dirt cheap xfire mobo in the post to get a 2nd 4770, but I was just wondering what kind of difference I would see if I upgraded to a 7750, I mean this 5000 will run 3Ghz on the stock cooler and Ive not seen 7750s much above 3.2, I know they are AM2+ so have the individual power to the cores as opposed to AM2 having split power, but does this make them more stable under OC or something??

Going Broke Overclocking

A few hundred MHz comparing dual similar AMD X2 cores won't make much difference...
Even if the cache is greater/lesser it will only matter when under full load. Stable, I believe it's more the MB/system and their OC ability than the CPU itself.

so no point wasting 40 quid on a 7750 BE if I can keep my 5000 stable at 3 Ghz?
ok, hmmm, what about the 8750 phenom would that be a worthwhile improvement??

I was in the same boat as you and I'd say it was definitely worth the upgrade, especially for how cheap they're getting. I ran my 5000 BE @ 3.2 almost it's entire life, and my 7750 smoked it @ 2.7.

kuma is faster about 10% clock for clock. there are some members here with a kuma that can hit 3.5ghz, but that's just the max i've seen.
the phenom x3 will be about 10-15% faster than the kuma clock for clock. but if you're to upgrade from that x2 5000, i'd go for an athlon 2 250 or phenom 2 550be and hit 4ghz with it

The extra cache on the Kumas really help performance versus their older siblings. I've personally only been able to get 3.3Ghz stable with around 1.45v, but it's gets pretty hot, so I've settle for 3.2.

It really depends on if you end up taking advantage of the extra cache or not. If your uses for the board and cpu is just simple average computing task such as Web surfing, light gaming, music, video playback. Then i suggest you just stick with the 5000+.
__________________But if you end up doing some task that require the extra speed. Such as maybe some website designs, photoshop, av editing and what not then get the 7750. You'll end up happy with the purchase.

it's not worth. although a phenom x4 will be a good upgrade for you. but phenom 2s are just the better purchase by a huge mile. save your money and buy a new mobo then you can buy a 550be or 720be. you'll be much happier in the long run

right, to answer lots of Q's at once:
1, this mobo + CPU will be a secondary PC to the AM3 machine Ill be building in a few months time, so chill with the "OMGz get a PHII!!" :P 2, it will house xfired 4770's until the AM3 PC is built so will be used for everything, web surfing, light CS2 creation and gaming (crysis inclusive :P) so now we have worked out it probably IS worth me getting a better CPU for this board, gaming wise is the 8750 better or worse than the 7750??
