I don't have the BE, just the regular 5000+, and my mobo has no options for changing the VCore.

It happened to me with my 5000+ at 3.2 GHz.

Maybe bottleneck is the wrong word...

A 5000+ has a lot of trouble playing modern games. Whether it is holding back the GPU, or simply can't handle the strain is irrelevant. It just has trouble. I'm saying this from personal experience. I actually threw my 5000+ back in my rig today and the difference was quite noticeable when I fired up COD4.

wrong. I have gamed at 1920x1200 with a 4870 and a 5600 BE athlong (the 2.9 one) clocked to 3.3 and it blazed through everything.

THERE IS NO BOTTLENECK WITH THE 5000+... Ugggh . I have to go through this 1 more time. The 5000 will work fine with most games although it is older technology. If your processes are where they should be and your hardware has no problems, this processor should not have any bottleneck. Just cause it has a problem playing COD4 does not mean it is a bottleneck. If you switched processors on the same motherboard.. without re installing OS....that is most likely your problem(drivers). Now just because it does not have the same FPS is not the definition of a bottleneck.

your problems most likely are a user problem not a bottleneck.

I would recommend going back over this at least once a week otherwise you will have to keep answering the same questions once a week anyway

Well, I replaced my PSU, so I should be upgrading my GPU once the new cards come out (either Radeon HD5000 or Geforce 300).

If you have a lot of processes running and it taxes the CPU, yes it will bottleneck a good card. Overclocked and tuned, it shouldn't or if it does, it may be minimal.......

it was overclocked to 3.2, the problem is you get mega stuttering and its reli horrible to game with, my friend had it also with the 5200+ which his 8800GT whos sitting besides me right now, i can see how badly it was hindering my 4850 because with my new cpu i had a rediculously high performance increase with my card.
