I think the 4th line just means its good at transfering heat to your hsf hence THERMALLY conductive.
I suppose you could have scratched your mobo but, have you checked all the capacitors around the heatsinks you removed incase you knocked one of them?

Just thought of somthing, try your reset button on your power button pins on your motherboard, i had a problem with my power button before and all fans and lights came on but no boot. it might not help but it might be worth a try.

well, i can't tell. the big caps seem to be right as well as the small ones. i wasn't able to find any traces of scratches as well.

oh well, i guess i'll have to rma this one and stick with this lappy. but i'll have it diagnosed first just to be sure. i'm quite lucky with the store though as i've read some good things about their rma.

but i wonder if they'll notice and ask me about the northbridge hsf replacement. i can just put in the stock hsf though. but the tim changed from gray to white.

No, just plug your reset button cable where you would normally plug your power button and use it as a power button, if anything it will rull out your power button being faulty, its quite common for them to fail.

I have a question. I haven't popped a heatsink off a NB chipset in a long time, but, are they still exposed die's, or are they making them with an IHS now?

because if they're still exposed...you might have chipped it.
