Default My PC build thread: $748.54 before $80 MIR (updated 8-5/09, pic intensive)

An incredible build shipped to your door:
945, Asus 790GX AM3 mobo, 4 GB DDR3 @ 1600 (cas 9 unfortunately, but hey, DDR3), a free HDMI cable, and 1 TB HDD: $383.97, $15 MIR x2
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.213770

+
MSi HD 4890 factory OC: $199, $30 MIR
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127427

+

Corsair 750w $109, $20 MIR
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139006

I've been focusing on building a new computer for 2 months now, restructuring the build pretty much daily. But I've finally had enough (financially and patience) and found a deal I couldnt pass up..in the time it took me to eat dinner, the CPU dropped $30, and I wanted to catch the deal before newegg canceled it. Its been up for a pretty good amount of time so far.

As I've said before, I've kept close watch on the Gigabyte mobo (MA790X-UD4P) and been trying to decide which Phenom II to choose (920, 940, or 955). I felt that DDR3 was out of my reach, and obviously in choosing a Phenom II, so was i7. Also thought about a GTX 260-216 vs HD 4870, but then I saw how well the 4890 did in tests and that it wasnt really too much more; as a gamer, this was the second most important part.

Plans are to enjoy this for a loong time, and when necessary, get another 4890 to run Xfire (which this mobo is better for) and more RAM, both of which will be plenty cheap whenever I'd need to upgrade.

All I need now is a case, and to see if my old optical drive will work.

I wasnt big on the 945 either, but honestly, I wont be OCing it for a long time either, nor very much then. The biggest reason is that the combo deal only gave me the 945 as a choice...which is still just fine.

Update, this combo went down in price. Newegg's policy is to honor the new price if your package hasnt been delivered yet; as such, the total cost is $714.55. As such, once they credit my account, I'll be purchasing the DVD drive I left out of the build.

That's awesome! Don't you just love newegg? I buy all my PC equipment from them, I always receive it promptly and everything always works.
