5000 will be expensive..4890 is best bang for buck. He can always upgrade in the future.

Pretty awesome i7 920/X58/GTX 275/1TB/4GB 1600 rig can be had for quite a bit less than $1000. That's what I'd go for. And don't wait for video cards to come out. Why wait for marginally better performance for more money when you can be gaming now? That will always be the case with computer hardware.

EDIT: Btw Macs, seems like you make a lot of threads like this... do you not have an opinion of your own?

Saying the guy who thinks he should put a i7 lol jk. Anyways the 5850 migth be around the price of the 4890 so you never know thats why its better to purchase when the 5000 series arrives. I mean if you purchase the 4890 now for 200 bucks. In a few weeks its probably going to be less. Plus for 1000 buck probably wont fit a i7 gaming rig, unless you want used parts.

IT WILL NOT BE THE PRICE OF A 5XXX would be a dumb marketing decision. Nobody would buy the existing 4890's..LOL

I said near. There are alot of rumor(TONS) that say the 5870 will be 300 bucks. That is probably to closest decision. Plus I am not telling him to wait and buy it. Like I said before there WILL be a price drop.

Don't get all wet about it... That will be 50% more seeing 4890's are around $200...
