Default AMD 550 too hot?

i have put up the multiplier for my 550 to 18 and its now about 3600MHz
i got a thermaltake blue orb 2 http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/T...lueOrb2/3.html because thats the only cpu cooler they had in the shop and i am getting 51 degrees on easytune, its about 50 on the bios if i restart.
i might have put too much thermal paste so i removed some after looking at pictures online.

should i reapply the thermal paste? or is there something else i can do?

Yes, I would reapply paste but more importantly I would upgrade that orb to say an xiggy dark knight with push/pull and you will see those temps drop way down. Newegg has it for $44.99 and with your system running cooler it will allow you to get even higher overclocks.

Edit; at the top of the page is user cp click on that and on the left is edit system, fill in your pc specs...thank you and welcome to OCN!

yeah thats what I was thinking.

If it is 51c idle deffinatly something wrong, try re-seating cooler apply some new TIM.*COUGH get rid of that lame ass cooler COUGH*

51c Load- Nothing to worry about,

maybe invest in a better cooler. dark night, Prolimatech mega. etc etc. And bash some good fans on them in push/pull and you will see the temps drop.

Yea, try reapplying the thermal paste. you don't need that much either; only about the size of a grain of rice.

Also get a good thermal paste, as5, acrtic cooling mx-2, tuniq tx-2, ocz. And I agree with the others get a better cooler than that crappy thermaltake.
get a zalman or a xigmatech, or arctic cooling, or a noctua. You should idle at around low 30's high 20's depending on your ambient temp.

A good cooler and good thermal paste makes a huge difference.
