You get the small increase in bus speed from true DC with the singls stick... it does offer you the option to up to 2X1G in the future
But if you do upgrade get the exact same module and you should be able to run in DC.

Question

I see. So in a real world app. DC does not offer a noticable difference.

Depends on your interpretation of "noticable difference" You as a gamer wouldn't notice the difference between 1.8GHz and 3GHz.

It depends on the week of manufacture. If it was from the 0528/0530 batch, then 3Ghz on air is not an unrealistic target and then water would depend on how good your loop is.
For a CABNE of other weeks the results prob won't be as good. I tested a CABNE 0540 and struggled to get 2.8Ghz stable on air (prob around 2.75 stable) but that was using a lot of vcore (around 1.75v). Still a decent overclock though from a cheap CPU.

Okay as much as the X2 devotees hate this I am wanting to get a 64 4000+ San Diego core.

Now some tend to dwell upon the practicality of it all but what would be a real term difference between the 3700+ Venice and the 4000+ San Diego with good 2 x 1024Mb RAM an a nice motherboard to boot, all kept nice and cool on good water cooling.

And I am aware of the paper stated specs, just want to hear from some users from both camps.

cheers..and be happy not mad !

There's no difference between the 3700+ and the 4000+ except the extra multiplier. They both use the same core. I had a 4000+ and sold it as it was just a waste of money over the 3700+ or an Opteron 146/148, if you're overclocking.
Max overclock I got from the 4000+ was ~2.8Ghz.
Hope this helps

Default Clawhammer 3700 question

Hey i just bought a 3700 clawhammer (754) and the dfi ut nforce 3 250 gb and i at this momemt have ddr 3200 (corsair value select) and i am waiting for some mushkin pc4000 (500mhz) and i would like to overclock to 3 ghz. I really really really don't want to spend any more money on anything.....i don't want to use water cooling.. right now i have the volcano 12 for the socket 754 and the 939 and when turned up just not even half way my temps are at 37 C at full load. Does anyone think it will be possible to be able to keep the temps down..and i do have as5. Oh and the ram i'm getting is 1 gb. (trying to think of more relivent information) I've got a 120 mm fan as an exhaust and two 80 mm (oone pushing out on tope and one pulling in on the side (right above the heatsink)..i have windwos xp 32bit edition w/ sp2 ....i think that's about it.
