Hmmmm, I'm seriously considering getting a 146 maybe tomorrow (Errr they're not available yet) if they're as cracked up as you guys say they are. The 10x multi should be enough for me considering the RAM I'm using, I won't have much use for an 11 or 12x multi. Is it really that bad if I blindly order a 146 from Monarch? I can't imagine a stepping being "bad." And what's up with the dual core Denmarks?

Chances are, if you don't at least pick up a CABYE stepping then it won't go any further than your 3700+. Could you email and find out what stepping and week they have in stock?

Sorry to have hijacked your thread zerohour

I bought the cpu at monarch because it was being offered for 50 bucks under AMD's suggested OEM price...bought it and crossed my fingers for a good stepping...and this is one of the few times where luck has been on my side (my newark was lucky too though)

Not a problem with the hijacking, im learning something new, if it werent for this thread, i would have already bought the worse stepping from newegg.

no... that is not that great as it is # 5... if you refer to back only a cabye 540 will be in the 2-4.

The tittle of the auction is "caybe 0528" I thought it said "cabne 0528"

that means its one of the newer types of opterons... also means its less likely of being a cabne 0528
