Wrong description is wrong.

Pros: Affordable, Good Performance, Hidden Capabilities
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: This CPU is truly a hidden gem. Don't let the name throw you off, because this is a crippled Phenom II X4 Quad Core cpu with its L3 cache disabled, along with half of ithe L2 cache disabled that's underclocked. This CPU with a little tweaking and overclocking through the Bios using an AM2+ ATI 790GX/780G motherboard that can enable ACC, can be turned into a Phenom II X4 Quad Core CPU for only 59 bucks! Some people have already done it. How can you tell if this CPU is a crippled Phenom II X4? The "CACVC" markings on this CPU ID indicates that's its using the "Deneb core" which are what the Phenom II X4 uses. So there you have it, with a little tweaking and overclocking you caa turn this CPU into the cheapest Phenom II X4 CPU that money can buy.

It's old stock from the original athlon 64 x2's not the athlon II x2 , it's not worth a pinch of salt.
I thought that it would of been obvious since it says AM2 in the CPUZ pics and not AM3 like all the Athlon II's.

If you take a closer look at the Newegg pic you will see it's not an Athlon 2 nor a Phenom 2, it's an ATHLON 64 x2 5000+ which they don't make anymore.
Then take a look at the CPUZ pic the OP put up and you tell me.
does the 720 come in an AM2 package no it's AM3.
But if you look the user review in NEWEGGS listing the info right but it's put on the wrong product.
But since you seem to know AMD so well I don't need to point this out to you do I.

My apology he's confusing all of us the listing is wrong, or something really is where's the codename, something doesn't seem right with this.
The last new AM2+ CPU's I was aware of was the old phenom 2's 920 and 940.

I don't disagree but here's a zoom pic of the box of the listed CPU item on Newegg.

there's a few things wrong with this pic.
1. if it is indeed the new dual core then it would have more that just 1mb total cache, each core would have 1mb each L2
2. http://www.amd.com/us/products/deskt...omparison.aspx

3. AMD don't use the *000 model naming any more.

4. Then you look at this an actual Athlon II x2 250 box you'll see what I mean.

and then the label again on the bottom.

I am really not trying to be an a** but this is not it.

It is ture, this cpu is now very top sell in China as far as I know. Some of the retailers can provide the "Gurantee to unlock" OEM version of that CPU.

Even the biggest IT review website in China have some very detail review of it.

So, the point is, how to get it. I mean gurantee version.

Maybe I can post more pictures later this day. But I really don't want to Translate the whole review.

BTW, my friend in China just bought one, maybe he would have some insight information about that later on.

It's not.

The old K8 65nm 5000+'s were 2.6ghz.
