Post Question about AMD 64 3800+ and ECS 6100

I was wondering if I could overclock this AMD CPU:
AMD Athlon 64 3800+ 2.41GHz with a ECS 6100 Motherboard.

As far as my knowledge of computers go I want to say no but I'm not really sure what I'm doing here. It's a kind of old PC I use for casual gaming, HL2, TF2, L4D, etc, etc.

So simply Yes, No, or Maybe.

I can play Half-Life 2 @ 1440x900 Max Settings. Same for Episode 1 but Episode 2 is medium settings.
TF2 is some high models low res is 1280x768 same for L4D.
TF2 at around 30-60FPS L4D at around 20-60 FPS.

But that's now what I wanted answered. ><

Of course you could, all you had to do was hit the delete key at startup and go into the BIOS.

More than likely though you'd only be able to change FSB values, so it's dependent on how far your RAM wants to go or how high your 3800 can go on stock volts (whichever is first).

Errr, I assume you're referring to the OEM board in your eMachines system. Forget about OCing, if the vendor hasn't already locked out 99% of ther enthusiast-oriented options in the BIOS, ECS is generally regarded as a low-end manufacturer. You can try flashing your BIOS with one from a similar/same ECS retail board, but it's not worth the effort IMHO.

Okay I was just wondering since I was going to build a custom PC soon and I just wanted to know if I could do anything with this one.
Thanks for explaining.

(Off Topic: Heh you're sig is right, most people I know are into techno, electronic, hardstyle, rock, and some other genres. No idea why rap is so interesting. :P)

Yeah but azn I was pretty sure my motherboard would limit that choice since like kz26 said it's a low end board so I can't really do much. I'd rather just go and build/buy a gaming PC instead of spending time trying to overclock this CPU and learning about flashing my motherboard. Either way I'll just leave it as a family PC.

One last question, anyone know any good companies for gaming PCs? I've been looking at CyberPower and VigorGaming, any recommendations?

Having used numerous ECS boards (since the socket A days) I can safely say that they at the very least support FSB increases. If you're ever bored one day you can just start upping the values till you hit a wall.

I'd be willing to try it. Mind explaining how I can do this since I'm new to the whole overclocking side of computers.

Yes you can overclock lol im using the same board and just tried it yesterday.
Look here http://www.overclock.net/amd-cpus/59...ultiplier.html

I just increased the bus speed to 210 so my stock sempron processor of 2000mhz reached 2100mhz. Ill be increasing the voltage now because i hit the wall at 215 bus speed and got a blue screen.
210 bus speed was safe though, because I havent turned of the pc since yesterday.
