My mobo has no CPU Multiplier??? its an ECS geforce 6100pm-m2
Hello all this is my first time to overclock and ive searched everywhere in the bios but cannot find the cpu multiplier. My reason of only wanting to increase the cpu multiplier is because my cpu has been bottlenecking my gpu in most of the newer games. Are there really motherboards that dont allow to change cpu multiplier? or is it just in the bios? Ive managed to increase Reference Clock to 215 but dont want to increase it further because it affects everything else right? I just need to increase cpu speed and not the memory. So far the idle temperature is 34 degrees celsius. Also why is the core speed changing in CPU-Z? 1st picture is idle time at 210 reference clock: ![]() 2nd picture is loading photoshop at 210 reference clock

You can probably push the reference clock higher. Do some testing to find your max clocks using this guide.

Going Broke Overclocking

AMD, except the BE editions, can not increase their multiplier, only reduce they as they are semi locked.
Increasing the CPU's bus speed does have effects. 1. Set the PCIe to 100 to keep that and the PCI speed locked. 2. The RAM is increasing in speed 1:1 when the RAM default is 200MHz or DDR800 2.1 If your RAM is a slower default speed, you will likely have to further down clock it to allow it more room to increase in speed as the CPU's bus speed increases. 2.2 Dependent on the RAM, some voltage increases will help it attain a higher stable speed. 2.3 Timings may be adjusted to allow for higher stable speeds. 3. Voltages that help the OCing process. 3.1 The CPU 3.1.1 Increasing it increases the temperatures. Keep the full load temp below the misd 50c range. 3.2. Other voltages 3.2.1 NB & SB (North Bridge & South Bridge) Some systems have two chips or both in one. You then may have either two voltages that may need increasing or just one. 3.3 The MBs HT speed may require the multiplier to be reduced. A handy little program called CPU-Z which is available in our Downloads can show you what your RAM settings are, their optional timings and in the SPD tab what the RAM is actually running at. A few helpful other basic specs it displays is the HT speed and what the CPU OC is.

The reason why you clocks change is because you have Cool n Quiet enabled, which lowers the voltage and multiplier based off cpu load. I would disable it for now.

![]() So changing the reference clock also affects memory speed? Ive seen a significant change in fps with batman arkham asylum benchmark. 200 bus speed: 29 fps average 210 bus speed: 31 fps average 215 bus speed: 34 fps average well that just proves i need to buy a new processor

It may help stability while overclocking, not sure how it effects performance though.
imo, having your graphics cards downclocks help the most. I went from idle of around 250 watts down to 175 by having both my 4830's clock down

All amds chips are semi locked so you cant change the cpu multi. (Unlessou have a black edtion - they are unlocked).
Some BIOS may lock it out as well. Mostly the ones from like Dell, HP, ect. Not sure if they still do this. last box i touched was my mom's HP peice of crap. You are running cool and quiet enabled so when your idle the cpu's speed and voltage drop until its needed to do something the it jumps back. good for power i guess.

I didnt see it listed but it is late. Make sure in your power options, set your power plan to high performance.
You can also check here for modded bios: http://biosmods.com/ If you don't see it listed you can post and the Admin might be able to help you.
