While playing around in my bios, I set my EC Firmware option to "Special", which to my understanding is used for unlocking x3 and x2s.
__________________Well after doing this, I discovered two things, 1) I am unable to monitor any core temps 2) HWMonitor is reporting my TMPIN0 (which is CpuTemp correct?) as 29c (idle). -This is a ~10c drop in my temp when it is set to normal. Is this just an error on HWMonitors part? It seems to good to be true, as my TMPIN0 temp was usually the same as my core temps anyways. Also, if I do leave it on special, is there any negative effects that would occur since I already have a x4?

I've done a lot of playing around with this, and have seen the same exact thing happen with the temp monitoring. In my case, the cpu temp usually drops about 6-8 degrees and is about 3-5 lower than what the core temp would read with it off.
It does not seem, to me, to help much with the overclocking, although the 'rumors' are that it is supposed to help 'loosen' the ability to clock at the top end. I've not really seen that happen, although I am far from an experienced o/c'er, so who knows when it is a good thing to utilize on our chips. They say the Ph II's have the ACC 'baked' in, but I don't know who they are, and what that means exactly. Marc

There is NO POINT TO SET IT TO SPECIAL. You have NOTHING TO UNLOCK. So, once again... What is the point of you setting this?
