Default Phenom II X4 940 BE OC questions...

Ok so im trying to OC my sig rigs P II x4 940 BE to 3.6, what voltage should I be worried at? Right now im running 1.38-1.39ish VCore and that seems a little high, I know on the spec sheet it says its capable of up to 1.5v but how much should I push this CPU.

BTW this is a F@H rig so this OC will be crunching at 100% CPU usage 24/7.

1.5-1.55volts is the limit of these chips. As long as you don't exceed 1.5v you will be fine. Also keep track of your temps, and make sure they don't exceed 60C.

I think im going to stick with under 1.4Vcore just because this is a 24/7 rig.

Right now with p95 blend its at 45c after 5 minutes, I <3 my ziggy

thx.

I was able to run 3.4 at stock 1.35. But after that it takes quite a serious V jump.

Come on push those volts...

I actually just sent my mobo in for RMA...before that i was running mine at 1.55v no problem with load temps at 40c(low ambients)and it probably wouldn't exceed 50c...i think its my mobo thats requiring the extra voltage...i hope the next one OC's better since these Xigmatek HDT's cool like no other cooler i have ever had...i have my fingers crossed for 4Ghz

You don't need to worry unless you temps are getting too high. If you're not comfortable don't go above 1.55, I've gone to 1.625 and beyond but it didn't allow me to OC any higher. So I'm at 3.7 at ~1.5v. My setup just doesn't like 3.8

But your sig says 1.48v?

I haven't really got to work much with my chip but it takes all of 1.55v for it to be Prime95 stable at 3.8Ghz...i did some light testing at 1.6v and it wouldn't go 3.9 stable...i probably was making some mistakes so i have my fingers crossed...

BTW you make me feel less self conscious about my oc

Heres my setting,

cpu@3.7 1.42v
cpu nb@1.3v
nb@2600 1.4v ( any lower volts was blue screen )

To get 3700 i had to up the voltage on the nb to max 1.4v as anything less would give me bsod within first minute of tests.
I've been trying to overclock for ages but was stuck at 3.6 then upped the nb and i can now do 3800@1.45v, havent stressed tested as temps are too high so i leave it at 3700 but it booted where as it didnt before.
Your temps are awsome, mine idles 42-45c and load is 55-58c.

Thanks from me as well for that info...i will definitely have to work on my setup when it gets back from RMA

From what i have seen this is just about right...a lot of users here have used 1.6+ to achieve there oc's...if anyone is actually running 1.6+ 24/7 i am just not sure...

If it where me and i actually plan to do this if i don't get rid of my chip...i would just push the volts as high as you could with safe temps...i mean don't go ridiculously high but 1.65 and under would get you a nice OC..
