Default When is AMD going to come out with something that will compete with i7's?

I have been an AMD fan since day one, but intel is absolutely taking over in the high performance dept, I am wanting to upgrade again and there really isn't a substantial upgrade for me as far as AMD is concerned... If i want to see a noticable difference, intel is the only ones offering anything of substance... Am i missing something, or is AMD just getting that far behind intel?

No flamesuit should be needed here because I am an absolute AMD fan, but dang, they really need to start stepping it up or I will be forced to play ball with intel.

IIRC AMD is setting it's sights on the Bulldozer architecture.

From the looks of it, they need to quit worrying about bulldozers and go ahead and pull out a M1A1 tank so us AMD fans can have some pride back for a little while... At least until the i9's come out.

Wouldn't it really be nice to see something from AMD that really shines again?

AMD has been a generation behind, and has no direct motive to release something to compete with i7. They cater to their own market, more of a cost/performance ratio than just pure performance. I think Phenom II is a great step forward for AMD and they have nothing to worry about. Except for stupid Hector Ruiz tanking stocks.

AMD has yet to come up with something as good as a mere i5 (as far as architecture, overclockability, and clock-for-clock processing power goes). They have a long ways to go. They're still continuing the trend of SUCKING at Super Pi. When will they come up with something that will beat a decent Celeron at Super Pi? Probably never lol.

Hopefully the Phenom III's come out something soon. A Phenom III octa-core and a Crosshair IV sounds like a lethal combination . Still won't be as good as an i9, but at least they keep trying.

I don't really think AMD is concerned about having the FASTEST chip available. They offer much cheaper systems for average people that just want a system that gets the job done.

I think AMD is most concerned about returning to profitability atm. Been a while since they've made even a dime of profit

Thats what I am saying... Intel has reasonably priced chips out that is knocking on 5ghz door, and AMD's biggest and baddest struggles to put out a chip that will consistantly run at 4ghz, and even then its a craps shoot if you get a golden chip or not.

EDIT:
I don't know, i guess i am just getting tired of wishing something awesome will come from AMD, while intel is cranking out new tech non-stop that is incredible...

Nope! Love my 955 just as it is . I don't care if some other processor gets higher numbers than mine in arbitrary benchmark tests, it does exactly what I want at exactly the speed I want.

... actually yeah.
