Pleaseeeeee let it work for AM2+ as well... anyone know if they plan to do this? SWEET, ty google: "The chip maker has confirmed to Maximum PC that a six-core slab of silicon (codenamed Thuban) will be released in 2010, with the real kicker being that it'll be fully backwards compatible with existing AM3 and AM2+ mainboards." (http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/21/a...onsumer-realm/)
__________________Yesssss!!! Though any decent overclocks will most certainly have to be on water... Phenom II's as they are now with 4 cores LOVE the cold when it comes to oc'ing. I do a lot of video encoding and the only meaningful upgrade for me right now would be an i7 system, which would cost ~$750 alone! That's for a chip, mobo, ram, and new psu. $250 for a 6 core Phenom II would be a big speed improvement for me, especially for the money.

http://www.overclock.net/hardware-ne...re-thuban.html Thuban is more than just a Istanbul transition and power consumption wont be linear.
