Default How is the Athlon II X4 620 for gaming?

As the title says. I'm looking to build a budget gaming/multitasking system and a quad core is almost a must. How does this thing perform in games?

Hmmmm, that's actually not very good. Does anybody have any other suggestions for a good CPU/Mobo combo under $200 for gaming and heavy multitasking?

I'd go with a Phenom II X3 720, they decimate most all games and overclock quite well.

Just buy a used quad core

You may have to spend 20-40$ over budget and you could probably just get a new one for that

Comparing the Athlon X2/X3/X4 CPUs on that website, the X3 looks to be the most well rounded for gaming. 10FPS increase in Crysis Warhead over the quad and dual. The X3 is also better for multitasking stuff than the X2, and pretty close to the X4 for the price difference. I think I'm gonna snag an X3. Thanks for the site, Aeogenia.

go with the new 3.2 Ghz 555BE x2. Early batches might unlock to quad 100% of the time. If not, it still looks like an easy chip to overclock if they kept the unlocked muli like the 550BE, it also has the new c3 stepping which means improved OC/less heat. a 4+ ghz dual core would decimate a stock x3 or x4 processor in gaming.

Nice! I was thinking about going for the x3 instead, but this link changed my mind. Thanks man!

Edit: I'd rather have DDR3 considering it costs the same as DDR2 now and is faster, but if I can't find a better deal I'll probably go with this one.
