I would like to put a 3 core phenom in my am2 board. The board says it can handle up to 2000 mt/s, I read on a site that that is good enough for a phenom. But the HT is only a 1000mhz, do I need to overclock it in order to keep if from bottlenecking my cpu? (sorry for the noob question guys, please be nice).

Which motherboard? You can check the manufacturer's site for BIOS update and CPU compatibility list

It's an ASUS M2NPV-VM.
I looked at the cpu support list, phenom is not on it. Bummer. The best it can support is Athlon X2s. Oh well thanks guys, I guess I will just turn this one into a file server (it has onboard RAID) then build a new machine. |
