Hey guys,
__________________i have this issue with this motherboard since I installed it new. For some reason, it takes a long time to boot into windows from start. It does like a self test (i guess?), and even after the self test is done, it seems to take a really long time for windows to boot up.. Is there any way around this? Ive flashed the mb BIOS to the latest but its still very slow loading.

Please fill in USER CP at the top of the page and to the left open add system. This will help ocn members help you. Could be a hdd going bad or bad install? Just a guess at this point!

I filled in the CP per your request...
__________________Also, its possible my HD might be going bad... I mean it is old.. But when I run CoD4 it runs flawlessly, and I've experience VERY minimal problems, if none at all... With my older CPU and MB, everything used to load much faster, but ever since I've upgraded the CPU and MB just yesterday, the loading seems to take much longer.. It hangs at the self test screen for quite a while... Anything else?

ASUS motherboards have an Express Gate function or something like that. Is it off? It basically waits like 10 seconds after POST before I starts booting Windows. Unless you're talking about Windows itself booting up.

Yes, i disabled express gate, but what i meant was that it sits in the American Megatrends screen for way too long, doing its own self tests. I enabled Quick Boot as well, which apparently bypasses some of its own tests, but still seems to take too long to get to the windows boot.

Generally though, there's not really a way to disable posting.

i mean, dont get me wrong, i totally agree with you. I just never thought that it would take this long.. I cant remember the last time a computer I owned took this long to go through its own POST. After it initializes the USB, it pauses for like a good 20-30 seconds.. and then goes down the list of all the drives it detects and what not... once thats done, it goes to a black screen with a blinking undercursor.. It sits in that for at least another 10-20 seconds, and then thats when windows finally starts to load up.. Even my last computer set up with the same hard drive didnt take this long to post and start up windows. I could get into windows very quickly on my old set up.. Now that I'm on a faster CPU and processor, it seems to just take way too long...

is it searching for network boot options or something like that? if it's still in time, I'd consider RMA, or contacting Asus. Those times are far from normal.
